The Fernand Braudel Postdoctoral Fellowships provide experienced scholars with an established international reputation the opportunity to pursue research at the European University Institute (EUI). Fellowship Length and Host Institution

The fellowship has a maximum duration of 10 months. Applicants are required to indicate their intended length of stay in their application; however, based on available funding, the host department may propose a shorter or alternative duration to selected candidates. Typically, fellowships are not awarded during the months of July and August.

To fully engage in the academic activities of their department, fellows are expected to reside in Florence for the duration of their fellowship.

Financial Support

The Fernand Braudel Postdoctoral Fellowships provides a monthly allowance of €3,000. For successful candidates whose primary residence is within 90 kilometers of Florence, the stipend is offered at a reduced rate. Please note that the fellowship does not cover travel expenses or any costs related to relocation or installation.

Department of Law: Considers only applications submitted by 30 March for fellowships starting in the following academic year (September to June).
