Advantages of the KU Leuven Master Mind Scholarships
The Government of Flanders offers 30 Master Mind Scholarships each year to outstanding students enrolling in master’s degree programs in Flanders.
Recipients of this scholarship receive €10,000 per academic year along with tuition fee reimbursement. Apart from a small enrollment fee, most living expenses—such as accommodation and insurance—are covered through the stipend, which is paid in installments.
For two-year master’s programs, the scholarship provides €10,000 per year for the full duration of study.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the KU Leuven Master Mind Scholarships, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Open to students of all nationalities, except Russian citizens.
- Applicants must apply to an eligible master’s program by 15 January, 23:59 CET.
- Candidates must indicate their interest in being considered for the Master Mind Scholarship by the same deadline.
- Applicants should demonstrate outstanding academic performance, reflected in a strong GPA and academic transcripts.
- Beyond the minimum admission requirements, students must also show strong proficiency in the language of instruction.
- Students currently enrolled in Flemish higher education institutions are not eligible, except for international students completing a specific preparatory program who plan to begin a master’s degree in September 2026.
- Students are not eligible if they are enrolled in:
- Preparatory programs
- Bridging (connecting) programs
- Distance learning programs
- The Master Mind Scholarship cannot be combined with an Erasmus Mundus scholarship or any other Flemish government funding.
Required Documents for Application
Documents to be uploaded:
- Recent passport-style photo
- National ID card or foreign passport
- Curriculum Vitae (CV/Resume), including (if applicable) publications, academic awards, and previous scholarships
- Academic transcripts; if not in English, Dutch, French, or German, a certified translation must be provided
- English language proficiency test results or a letter of exemption issued by the host university
- Motivation letter in English
- Two signed reference letters in English from professors at your university (home or previous), University of Applied Sciences (and Arts), or your most recent employer
- Degree/diploma certificate; if issued in a language other than Dutch, French, German, or English, a certified translation must be included
Application Deadline
The deadline to apply for the KU Leuven Master Mind Scholarships is 15 January.
Application Procedure
- The application period for the 2026–2027 academic year opens in October.
- Submit your application to your chosen host institution.
- The host institution reviews and preselects eligible applications.
- If preselected, the host institution will prepare your file in the Mobility-Online application system.
- You will then receive an email from Mobility-Online confirming your pre-selection.
- Register in Mobility-Online and complete your application file before the deadline.
- The host institution will use Mobility-Online to confirm and upload your finalized application before the deadline.
