These Freshman Academic Scholarships are renewable each semester, provided students maintain full-time enrollment and strong academic progress. The awards support undergraduate study during the fall and spring semesters and are available for up to four years.

Scholarships for Transfer Students

UAH recognizes the academic achievements of incoming transfer students by offering special two-year scholarships. No separate application is required—students are automatically considered once they apply for admission and submit official transcripts from all previously attended colleges.

Based on GPA, students may receive an annual award of either $1,500 or $3,000, renewable for up to two years. To qualify, applicants must be pursuing their first bachelor’s degree, have not previously attended UAH or another four-year institution, and maintain full-time enrollment at UAH.

University of Alabama in Huntsville – Graduate Student Assistantships

Graduate students at UAH have the opportunity to receive financial support through Graduate Assistantships, which allow them to gain professional experience while pursuing their degrees. Two types of assistantships are offered:

  • Graduate Research Assistantships (GRA): Students conduct research under the supervision of a faculty member.
  • Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTA): Students assist faculty members with teaching responsibilities.

To remain eligible, graduate assistants must be enrolled in at least nine semester hours of graduate coursework during the fall and spring terms, or six hours in the summer. In return, the university covers tuition and fees for up to 12 credit hours per semester.

Stipend Rates

Fall & Spring:

  • Level I: $4,500 – $12,500
  • Level II: $5,000 – $14,000
  • Level III: $6,000 – $18,500

Summer:

  • Level I: $2,700 – $8,500
  • Level II: $3,200 – $9,500
  • Level III: $3,700 – $12,500
