The S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences provides a monthly stipend to cover living and food expenses, with no foreign exchange conversion applied. Free on-campus accommodation is also offered. While the stipend does not include full health insurance, the Centre deducts a small contribution toward a medical plan.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be 35 years of age or younger as of December 31 of the application year.
  • Be a citizen of a developing country (excluding India).
  • Not hold a long-term or short-term visa for residence in any developed country, including India.
  • Possess a master’s degree in mathematics, physics, chemistry, or biology, with at least five years of combined undergraduate and graduate studies completed at a recognized institution.

  • Provide evidence of English proficiency if English was not the primary medium of instruction.
  • Submit proof of intent to return to their home country after the fellowship concludes.
  • Not undertake any other assignments during the fellowship period.
  • Be able to financially support any accompanying family members.
